Do You Know Two Common Failures Of Hydraulic Hoses?
Hydraulic Rubber Hose is an important part of the hydraulic system of construction machinery such as concrete trucks, road rollers, excavators, loaders, etc. Failures such as leakage, cracks, ruptures and looseness often occur during use, but people often do not analyze the cause of the failure but simply replace the hose and repeat the same failure shortly after use. The loosening or rupture of high-pressure hoses not only wastes hydraulic oil and pollutes the environment, but also affects work efficiency and even causes accidents, endangering the safety of humans and machines.
Hydraulic Rubber Hose Manufacturers point out that construction machinery pipes are divided into high-pressure hoses and low-pressure hoses. High-pressure hoses are braided with steel wires and wound with hoses. They are generally composed of four parts: outer rubber layer, steel wire reinforcement layer, middle rubber layer and inner rubber layer; inner rubber layer Direct contact with hydraulic oil, generally made of synthetic rubber. The load-bearing the capacity of the hose depends on the steel wire reinforcement layer, which is the skeleton of the hose. It is usually woven with steel wire and wound. High-pressure and ultra-high pressure mostly use multi-layer steel wire braided to wrap the skeleton; low-pressure hoses use braided cotton and twine instead of braided steel wire, generally used for low-pressure oil return pipelines. The main reasons for the failure of the hose are: improper installation and use, unreasonable system design and unqualified hose manufacturing.
A failure of the outer rubber layer
1 Cracks on the exterior of the hose: In a cold environment, cracks on the exterior of the hose will bend the hose. If cracks are found on the outside of the hose, pay attention to whether there is any crack in the rubber inside the hose, and decide whether to replace the hose immediately. Therefore, do not move the hose or dismantle the hydraulic system at will in a cold environment. If necessary, it should be carried out indoors. If you need to work in a cold environment for a long time, you should replace the cold resistant hose.

Bubbling on the outside of the hose: Bubbling on the outside of the hose is due to unqualified hose quality or improper use. If bubbling occurs in the middle of the hose, mostly due to quality problems in hose production, the qualified hose should be replaced in time; if bubbling occurs at the joint of the hose, it is likely due to improper installation of the joint. Steel wire braided. There are two types of detachable and crimping types for the winding hose joint and hose connection end. The detachable joint jacket and the joint core have a hexagonal shape. The outer wall of the joint core is conical, which is convenient for disassembling and assembling the hose. After the joint core is connected with the nut, insert the steel wire to prevent loosening. The crimping type hose joint is composed of the joint jacket and the joint core. When assembling, the outer rubber layer needs to be peeled off, the core joint is set, the joint jacket is tightened, and then the mold is pressed on the special equipment to make the hose get a certain amount of compression to achieve tight connection.
The hose is not broken but there is a lot of oil leakage: if the hose is not broken but there is a lot of oil leakage, the reason is that when the hose passes through the high-pressure liquid flow, the inner rubber is eroded and scratched until a large area of the steel wire layer leaks out causing a large amount of oil . This fault usually occurs at the bend of the pipeline. The replacement hose should be checked to ensure that the bending radius of the hose meets the technical requirements during use.
The outer rubber layer of the hose is severely deteriorated, and the surface is micro-cracked: this is the performance of the natural aging of the hose for too long. Due to aging and deterioration, the outer layer is continuously oxidized to embrittle the surface layer. As the time elapses, the embrittlement layer deepens. As long as the hose is slightly bent during use, micro cracks will occur. In this case, the hose should be replaced.
Two failure of the inner rubber layer
The rubber layer inside the hose is hard and cracked: due to the plasticizer added to the rubber products, the hose is flexible and plastic. The hose works under high temperature and high pressure. If the hose is overheated, the plasticizer will overflow. In addition, when the superheated oil passes through the cylinder, valve or other components in the system, if a large pressure drop occurs, the oil will decompose, causing the rubber layer in the hose to oxidize and become hard. In this case, you should first check whether the operating temperature of the hydraulic system is normal, whether the throttle of the valve and the suction passage of the pump are smooth, etc., and replace the hose after eliminating all factors that may cause the oil temperature to be too high and the oil to decompose. If only the inner rubber under the hose rupture is hard and the top is kept good, it means that the hose rupture is excessively squeezed, bent too sharply or twisted, which causes the oil to heat up and accelerate oxidation, which will cause the hard rubber .
The rubber layer in the hose is severely deteriorated and swells obviously: The reason for the serious deterioration and swelling in the hose is that the hydraulic oil is out of date or the oxidized and metamorphic dirt is present in the hydraulic system. Pieces of broken rubber will be found at the oil return port. If this phenomenon occurs, the physical and chemical indicators of the hydraulic oil should be checked to check whether the compatibility of the system oil with the material of the rubber hose and the working temperature meet the standard.
